Mixing hip-hop, jazz and classical roots, Bay Area pianist & keyboardist Bennett Roth brings his exciting sound to The Next Stage. He’s played on the City Lights Theater stage before, as well as at Yoshi’s, Cafe Stritch, San Jose Jazz Summer Fest, Shoreline Amphitheatre, and many other venues, but this livestream will offer an up-close look at his original music. We’re especially looking forward to the Covid-themed track “The Accessory.” (Artwork for the single features a large face mask.) Also an emcee, producer and multi-genre music educator, Bennett has a master’s degree in jazz studies from San Jose State and has performed with City Lights favorites Amy D., Mason Razavi and countless others. He is Creative Arts Director at The Riekes Center for Human Enhancement in Menlo Park, teaching piano, drums, bass, composition, band classes, hip-hop songwriting, and electronic music production. “The precision of his touch and the logic of his playing combined with his virtuosity lead to a high sense of musical expression.” –The Jazz Word
